Plastic bottles remain a major source of litter across Maryland, outranking other priority items in our cleanups and the Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore’s Mr. Trash Wheel Dumpster Dive.
We’re making progress but still have work to do on plastic bags. Now 16 jurisdictions in Maryland have plastic bag bans and/or fees. We’ve observed decreasing counts in our cleanups since Baltimore’s bag policy went into effect.
