Less Litter Maryland

  1. Increase participation in trash cleanups around the state

    • Trash Free Maryland will share and support trash cleanups hosted by other groups and individuals

  2. Standardize data collection using citizen science

    • Trash Free Maryland will work with a coalition to standardize data collection and house the data in a centralized database

  3. Use statewide data to inform policy solutions

    • Data from the trash cleanups can help inform policy decisions at the state, county, and local levels

People LITTER LESS when there is LESS LITTER, so we need MORE people – picking up a little or a lot – MORE often.

Cheers to Clean Water

Our annual event is held on the third Saturday in September conjunction with International Coastal Cleanup Day. Cheers to Clean Water is a highly anticipated local trash pickup in partnership with Baltimore area breweries. Teams of volunteers across Baltimore made the 4th Annual Cheers to Clean Water a productive and fun day for all!

Less Litter B-More

  1. Visibility and Influence

    • Norming cleanup behavior to activate more people to be a part of the solution

  2. Scaled impact

    • Create and support a community to address litter in a systematic and social way

  3. Prevention through mitigation

    • Change the conditions to make littering more socially unacceptable and uncomfortable through regular, dispersed, and sustained cleaning
