Cheers to Clean Water, Data & So Much More!

Each year, hundreds of clean-ups across the State take place. You may clean-up with your community, environmental organization, student club, neighbors or plogging group and every effort helps make better policy.  Our Trash Free Maryland Coalition harnesses the energy and data of your clean-ups to advocate for meaningful change.

Meaningful change means less litter!

That's why we are asking you to join for the 2022 Cheers to Clean Water across Baltimore on Saturday, September 17th at 9AM. Please register here.

What makes this clean-up special?

Data and Beverages.

We are testing out a newly developed protocol for volunteer run clean-ups to see if it works.  Many of our coalition partners have asked how to count trash they pick up? By bag, by weight, by item, by app? We will be testing an easy to use system devised with advice and guidance from some of the heavy hitters in the trash pick-up world and scientists as well.

As part of this new system the focus of this year's Cheers to Clean Water will be on plastic bags.

We like to call it a Policy Priority Item.

At this moment, the momentum around Maryland is significant and we want 2023 to be the year to turn away from plastic bags statewide.  Just this week, the City of Easton enacted a plastic bag ban bill. Montgomery County, Baltimore City and several municipalities already have requirements in place to incentivize consumers to use their own bags.

What also makes this clean-up so special is our partnership with local businesses: Mom's Organic Market and 6 of the best breweries in Baltimore!  Checkerspot Brewing Company, Charm City Meadworks, Mobtown Brewing Company, Monument City Brewing Company, Peabody Heights Brewery and Union Craft Brewing. Our non-profit partners, Blue Water Baltimore and the Baltimore Community ToolBank are some of the best out there. Need we Say More?!

Or maybe we should say "pour." Every volunteer will receive a voucher for a beverage at one of these favorite Baltimore breweries.

Most importantly, it's just plain fun. Meet some new people, clean the banks of a favorite waterway, check out a new brewery and make a difference!  Register to select one of five locations across Baltimore.

Register here. Hope to see you there!
